  1. I read about how figure skating evolved and became what it is now. I also learned how artistic and amateur skating can be. One more thing I read about was all the different great figure skaters from history that did compete had judges.

I had something under pressure is me doing the front flip and landing it on my feet. Another one is me jumping on a high distance on a trampoline.

  3. Dear Mr.Moore,
I summarized that in the book Skating to Fame Dick Buttons was the first to leap in to air and do two and half spins and land. After he performed skaters put more and more pressure on themselves.

  8. Dear Mr. Moore,

I read that a hot new sport came out called figure skating. A man highly impressed the judges by performing a jump in a contest. His presentation won him the contest. Skaters have topped his jump multiple times by spinning multiple times. Suddenly, the sport had changed. There was more pressure than normal because you had to jump if you wanted any chance of winning. One time I had to perform under pressure was when I was playing baseball. There was two runners on base and there were two outs. If I struck out we would lose. There was two strikes and three balls. The throw left the pitchers arm. It was coming at me and it hit me. we won the game by one

What I learned is that after a while the skaters did a compete each other. It was all about what do they do with the skats and what kind of elements the do. The skats have very good technical and the judges what the have done. I love looking at this and this is what I wrote down.

What I read was about skating and people pressure and they all started to do amazing stuff. And people started to get first place because they started to spin in the air. Then people started doing that but more amazing.
When I had to finish my quiz in ten minutes.
People in the book got first place because back then they never saw people spin in the air in a figure contest.
    Sincerely,
    Daniel

  12. Dear Mr. Moore, Ms. Vandervelde, and Ms.Thumm,
I read: First, I learned how people used to skate on rivers and lakes and soon, people started to compete each other to see who was the fastest or who could skate the farthest. Next, I learned how ice skaters would show off by skating/creating figures on the ice. Then, I learned how a man name Ulrich Salchow did the first spin on ice and won the a figure skating contest. After that, it tells how people try to jump like Ulrich or try to make up other jumps. Next, I learned about a skater name Dick Button and how he was the first one to spin around 2 and a half times on ice/air. Later, I learned how past the times, people made new techniques and trick on ice with their own skills over the history. Also, I learned how a couple would dance on ice with a great presentation. Finally, I learned about the history of Dean and Torvill's Winter Olympics victory of ice skating. That's my summary.

This book reminded me how I had to try so hard to follow my aunt, uncle and my 2 oldest cousins while hiking and rock climbing.

Also, I saw that the part "The judges were impresses" was probably a opinion because a judge have been not been impressed. These are my answers for the book and I hope you liked it!

    Dalena

Today I learned that ice skating is not that easy. I learned that how complicated it is. People on the Olympic try to do something that nobody has done ever. They take ricks. One fact I found is that skaters take ricks.

  15. Dear Mr. Moore, Ms. V, and Ms. Thumm,
People have been skating for a long time, whether to get to place to place, or just for fun. Soon contests began to form. When people began making figures on the ice, figure skating contests were created. Extraordinary skaters began to pop up, pressuring people to do new things. Another sport involving ice skating is ice dancing. It wasn't a mainstream sport until two ice dancers in the Olympics did an amazing routine, making it popular. Who knows what skaters will do next!
When the skaters were under pressure, I've had a ton of pressure during my Tae Kwon Do belt testing! I've made it every time so far, but sometimes, while you're doing your forms, you get the distinct impression that the judges are marking you down.
Some facts in the text are that Dick Button and Ulrich Salchow introduced new things into figure skating. An opinion is that all skaters were pressured to try new things.

  16. Dear Ms.V, Ms Thumm, And Mr.Moore,
For decades people have been skating for for fun and they were amateur. Then people started to compete and they were drawing lines with their ice skates. They named the sport figure skating and there were judges giving the skater points. After awhile the jumps were required. I've worked under pressure helping my dad dig 4 foot holes to put up posts for shade.

There are over 1,ooo years of ice skating. There are many ice skating artistics that want to show off there stuff. Then the judges give out the grade. When I had to sing out to the people how whached me. That some are the best. There are over a 1,000 years of ice skating.

  18. Dear Mr.Moore,

The first thing that happened in the story was people skated on lakes for fun or to get from place to place. And then a skater did 1 spin in the air and won the contest because nobody had done this before Then another skater did 2 1/2 spin in the air and next the same skater did 3 spins in the air. And then many people started to do amazing things. One connection I had from being under pressure was when I was with my whole family and I had ton of homework and I had to do the homework at five in the morning and I almost missed the bus. One opinion I found was ice skating become one of the most exciting sport in the Olympics.

    Sincerely,
    Bernadette

  20. Dear Mr.Moore,
I remember from the book called "Skating to Fame" that a guy named Ulrich Salchow was a artistic person he was the first one who jumped in a contest. Also, that once people started seeing Dick Button everybody that was a figure skater started challenging them self. A time that I have had to work under presure is when I had to help my dad fix something around the house. I found an opinion it it said almost everyone started challenging them selfs and a fact that I found was that many people were in the olympics.

I read in Skating to fame that there was a lot of pressure in figure skating, Olympics, and twirling in shows too. First, it stared out as gust fun and games then a man named Ulrich Salchow. In 1909 he did the first twirl, he spun around 2 and a 1/2 times . Then people started to do figure skating with making fancy designs.

  26. Dear,Mr.Moore Mrs.V Mrs.Thumm

In this selection there was people who was skating. And also there was Elements such as Artistic movement when a competition was held. The Presentation of many, had to do with Technical movement. Also some competition was in pressure. Some of the Amateurs started to compete. Some judges require jumps in the competition.
