Galaxies: Day 1
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Today, you'll need to be responsible for your own learning about galaxies. You'll need to become an expert on three types of galaxies. The three types of galaxies you need to know are spiral galaxies, irregular galaxies, and elliptical galaxies.
We'll use some videos to help you understand. Here's the first one. It's focused on the characteristics of galaxies. This should be great for your notes...
If we have time, this selection goes into more detail and includes some information about stars, dark matter and the Big Bang Theory.
In your notes, you should really try to include and image and description of each of the three types of galaxies mentioned above.

Dear Ms. V and Mr. Moore,
ReplyDeleteA spiral galaxy is made up of gas, dust, and hot bright stars. A interesting fact I learned to day is that if we could take a plane to the sun it would take 17 years to get there.
Your student,

Dear Ms.V and Mr.Moore
ReplyDeleteOne thing I learned toady about a spiral galaxy is that it is made up of dust, gas and stars. I also learned it holds all together with gravity. I also learned that astronomers Thought that The whole galaxy Started all together and it finally exploded to create all galaxy.
Your Student,
Juan Carlos 6v
Dear Ms. V., A spiral galaxy is a galaxy which has a spiral form. For example The Milky Way is a spiral galaxy. I also learned that there are about 10000000000000000000000 galaxies. I wonder how many stars there are. From, Tyler
ReplyDeleteDear Mr. Moore, Ms. Vander Vander, and Mr. Ulrich,
ReplyDeleteA spiral galaxy is a spiral that you can define it's shape. It is made out of, gas, dust, and hot, bright stars. In order to remember what the spiral galaxy looks like it looks like a pinwheel. Two new facts that I learned today are, irregular is a galaxy that has no identified shape. Another new fact that I learned was that Astronomers are people who are scientists who study space.
Your Student,
Kathleen 12v
Dear Ms. Vander Velde,
ReplyDeleteThe spiral galaxy has two gas spirals that wrap around the galaxy. The galaxy contains gas, dust and hot, bright stars. A spiral galaxy looks a lot like a pinwheel. A question that I have is, is there going to another spiral that we will learn about. Another question is, how many stars are in our galaxy.

Dear, Miss.V,Mr.Moore and,Mr.Ulrich
ReplyDeleteA Spiral Galaxies contains gas, dust, hot, bright stars.Spiral Galaxies Can form New stars.1, 21zeros stars are in the milk way. How many grans of sand there are that is how many stars there are.Does the Universe ever end?
From,Enrique
Dear Ms. Vander Velde,
ReplyDeleteI learned about spiral galaxy are spiral galaxy contains gas, dust, and hot bright stars. One example about spiral galaxy is the Milky Way. There are 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars every galaxy. Galaxy are collection of dust which is held by gravity.
Your Student,
Micah

Dear Ms.V and Mr.Moore and Mr.Ulrich
ReplyDeleteToday I learned that a spiral galaxies is like our milky way.It is made out of gas, dust, and hot bright stars. The spiral galaxies is also very big and if you see it through a telescope you can see that it is a fine spiral like a pinwheel.
From,
Nayeli
Dear Mr. Moore and Ms. Vander Velde,
ReplyDeleteToday I learned that a spiral galaxy is a collection of gas, dust, and stars. I also learned that a spiral galaxy can contain about 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars.
Your Student,

Dear,Ms.V and Mr.Moore
ReplyDeleteToday I learned that a spiral galaxy is the milky way.The other thing I learned is that when a new star is born it is born in a spiral galaxy.
Sincerly,
Hannah
Dear Mrs. V and Mr.Moore and Mr. Ulrich
ReplyDeleteI learned that gas, dust, and hot, bright stars make up a spiral galaxy and I learned that a spiral galaxy looks like a pin wheel.
Your friend,
Laura
Dear Mr.Moore and Ms.V,
ReplyDeleteToday I learned spiral Galaxies are Galaxies that look like pin wheels. Also that the galaxies are moving apart and the earth is getting bigger. Another thing I learned is that it would take 17 years for an airplane to travel from the earth to the the sun. I Also learned that there are 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars in the universe.
Your student,
Elijah
Dear Mr.Moore,Ms.V,
ReplyDeleteToday I learned that a spiral galaxy is made out of gas, dust and hot bright stars that are held by gravity. If a plan went to the sun it will take 17 years and if a plan went to the second closest star it will take 50 million years.

Dear Ms.V,
ReplyDeleteA spiral galaxy is a galaxy but it is made of dust, gas, and hot bright stars. It's shape is like a pinwheel. One fact I learned was that there are one trillion billion stars, and six trillion galaxies.
Your student,

Dear Ms.V,
ReplyDeleteI learned that a spiral galaxy is a galaxy that looks like a pinwheel. Spiral Galaxy’s are in a spiral form that have 2 spiral arms. They are made from gas, dust, and very bright stars. The Milky Way Galaxy is a spiral galaxy. In the Milky Way Galaxy the sun sites on one of the spiral arms.I also learned that if you traveled to the sun it would take you 17 year to get there.
Your friend,
Sydney
Dear Mr.Moor and Ms.V
ReplyDeleteThe spirel is well found in space.
There are 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars in a galaxy.
It will take 17 years to go in space and back.
