Also, please take a moment to comment on this post and share your thoughts about the trip. What did you learn? What was new for you? What did you already know about? What are you looking forward to as we continue our work with the Audubon Society? How does this work connect with the Cal-Wood trip?

Thanks for pushing your thinking, Dragons!

  1. I liked this trip. I really had a great time. The activity that I liked the best was the game because it shooed us the way of the Life Circle. The Audubon Society connected to Cal Wood because they taught us the water shed to and about pollution. Thank you for this field trip am looking on coming next month.

  2. I think that the trip to the Audubon Society Nature Center connects to Cal-Wood because we were looking at Micro-Invertebrate at Cal-Wood and at the field trip. I also look forward to working with the Audubon Society Nature Center because I think that it looks like a lot of fun! Hope we go on another field trip there soon!

I learned how to test the water and learned how you see if the water is healthy or not. Testing the water was new for me and I thought it would be pretty hard, but Jason instructed how to do it, well and it wasn't that hard. I knew about the macro invertebrates from Cal-wood. I am looking forward to learn a lot about wildlife and some Science. It connect with Cal-Wood because in both trips we caught Macro invertebrates.

  4. Dear Mr. Moore, Ms. Vander Velde, and Ms. Chavez,
when I went to the Audubon Society it just remanded me like Cal - Wood. The whole thing was of the plants, foot prints, and even the wild life. The teachers were so nice everybody they shared there equipment with all of us. Emily really gave us some cool stuff to test what kind of chemicals will effect the water. Thank you for taking us to the Audubon Society.

  5. On my trip to the Audubon Society of Greater Denver, I had learned what a crawdad is while "Fishing" for macro-invertebrate,and I also discovered that a crawdad is highly tolerant of pollution, while aquatic sow bugs are one of the most sensitive to pollution. I admit, seeing a crawdad is highly unusual for me, and I thought it was going to look like a glob of seaweed with eyeballs, but it actually looked like a small crab.I am glad we took this amazing field trip.

  6. Hello Ms. V and Mr. Moore,
at Audubon I learned how to do a experiment on the water. My group was the tempter and we had to use the Celsius and when we where doing it upstream my group and me found out its was 10 or 12 but we could have to do one that is down stream and it was colder there then upstream we came up to 6 or 8. And I already know about macro invertebrates and micro invertebrates. And I already know them from cal-wood when where where looking for insects and bugs that live in the water.I am looking for the next time we go to Audubon because I will learn all new things about nature.

  7. Dear Mr.Moore what I learned today is how to match up the water testing colors. Also what was new for me was finding a clam in the pond. I would never think of finding a clam in a pond. What I already know was how to do the water testing except for matching the colors. What I want to learn the next time we meet or visit the Audubon Society is how are clams formed and can they travel and what do clams eat? I have more questions for you to answer but that's all for now. Thanks for inviting fifth grade.

I learned how to test the water and learned how you see if the water is healthy or not. Testing water was a new thing to me. And I learned about the habitat. I was fun.

  9. Dear Mr.Moore,
I would like to learn more about the wildlife and what kind of animals are there. I also wonder if we could learn more about the kind of fish that is in the lake and rivers and ponds. There are other stuff I would love to learn from where we went today. Even though I didn't go to cal-wood the other kids make it sound just like the same. The things that were new for me is that I have never done before and I want to do it again. The other thing that I learned was that there were alot of interesting things in the water. But when we saw the water for the lake from were we were was clean.

  10. I think Cal-wood and the Audubon Society connect by that they both are outside. We can learn a lot in both of these trips. There was wildlife in Cal-wood and the Audubon Society. We also learned in both of them about Macro invertebrates and we caught some of them and observe them. There were scat and plants in both the trips.

  11. Dear Mr.Moore and Ms.Vandervelde I think that this field trip to he Audobon Society taught us more about nature than we would know right know like testing the water for dissolved oxygen and to also see if it was healthy. I think that this field trip connected to what we will know about nature for the rest of our life. I also liked the game that we played at the end where the people that were birds got to decide what they needed to survive and then the people that were chosen turned into baby birds.

  12. Dear Mr. Moore and Ms. V, I learned an amazing amount of knowledge about water purposes and macro - invertebrate I think my head might explode! I learned about how floods and wild fires may hurt birds called dippers. I also learned that macro and micro - invertebrate live on the rocks in the rivers. They also give many birds food including dippers. I hope I get to go back really, really soon! Sincerely Joey.

  13. I think Cal-Wood was almost the same as the Audubon center. Its almost the same because in Cal-Wood we learned about macro-invertebrates and then when we went to the Audubon center we learned more about macro-invertebrates. At Cal-Wood we caught the macro-invertebrates in a pond. Then, at the Audubon center we got the macro-invertebrates in the river.

  14. Dear Ms. Vander Velde and Mr. Moore,
In this trip to the Audubon center I learned how to test the water to see if it was clean or not and we did a hypothesis if it was clean or not.I barley learned how to test the water with the help of Emily.I knew about what kind of animals were there by asking them like turtles, beavers, horses and a bunch more.I hope the next time We go on a field trip to the Audubon Society Center that I will learn more about animals and how to check better the water. This trip has connected me with the trip to Cal Wood because we got to walk and explore the place and learn new stuff about animals.

  15. Dear Mr. Moore
I enjoyed being on this trip.I learned how to test the water and learned how you see if the water is healthy or not. My group was the turbidity you would fill up the water and then put it on the chart. The water was healthy if the turbulence was 60JTU. I am looking forward to the next time that we have to visit them and see what they have in store for us.

  16. Dear Mr. Moore , Mrs. Vandervelde ,and Mrs. Chavez
I really think that the trip that we just went on was the same train but was different because Cal-wood had a real pond but the Audubon was like a river and a lake that was blocked up.

  18. Dear Mr. Moore and Ms. VanderVelde,
At the field trip to Audubon Society of Greater Denver. I learned how to test the water and see how the water is polluted or when it's healthy. I never tested water before. That was pretty new. Fun too! I thought that I would have a hard time because I never done this before. It turns out I did not have a hard time. Other than tying to speak Spanish. This trip was like a Cal-Wood trip. Some of things that we learned today I learned in Cal-Wood. I learned about macro invertebrates.

  19. Dear Mr. Moore and Mrs. Vander Velde,
Today I learned about Water Quality and how to tell if water is healthy or not. I also learned about how many things depend on water. When I was at the Audubon Society I already knew about how many things depend on water. I'm exicted to work with the Audubon Society because I want to learn more about the water and other things they have to teach us about nature. I could relate Audubon Society to Cal-wood by how much nature was there and when learned more about nature.
