The Declaration of Independence

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Today we learned about the Declaration of Independence. You can find all sorts of great resources to continue your learning on this topic. Of course, there is a BrainPop video. And there are definitely multiple places where you can read the text of the Declaration of Independence.

If you sign in to Discovery Education, you can see this encyclopedia article or any of the video clips listed here.

Do you think they wrote it perfectly on the first try? Nope. They were revising their work all along. Here's the proof.

We can't wait to read your comments! Let us know what you learned and what you thought about all these amazing resources.

  1. Dear Mr. Moore, Mrs. V, Ms. Thumm,
When I looked at the writing I was like ''WOW! He wrote all that? I'm impresed.'' I wonder how long it took him to write that. I thought that Thomas Jefferson was the one who wrote the Decloreation Of Independence. While watching this video they said a lot of things that you have alraedy said in class. Other than that the video was great. Are we sposed to read the letter. Why did they edit Thomas Jefferson speech? Who read the letter to the public? could you tell all of us? If you can thanks. If you can't then okay. Thanks for providing these tools for us to use.
    From,
    Bella

  2. Dear Mr.Moore,
I learned that the Declaration of Independence was declared in 1774. I also learned that the Decleration of Indeppendence declared that the colonist were going to have their own goverment and they didn´t need Englands help to do that.

I learnd a lot and it helped me study a little. Here is one of the things that I learnd. Tomas Jefferson wrote a looot on the Declaration of Independence and lots of he's on the draft. Also that he didn't do the Declaration of Independence he's first time.He must have been a little fustrated when he had to do it all over again.
